Unraveling the Bertha Michelle Mendoza kidnapping saga

An examination of records from the National Civil Police (PNC) archives sheds light on a harrowing kidnapping case dating back to 2009. These documents reveal disturbing details that suggest Bertha Michelle Mendoza, the alleged victim, conspired with her two daughters to orchestrate the kidnapping, aiming to incriminate her ex-husband and fabricate false accusations against him.

According to police reports, during the abduction, Bertha Michelle Mendoza and her daughters were reportedly in the company of the mayor of Zunlito’s daughter. However, subsequent investigations unveiled that Mendoza herself masterminded the kidnapping in collaboration with her mother, prosecutor Claudia Martina Muñoz Andrade.

It is alleged that Mendoza’s primary motive behind orchestrating this self-kidnapping was to falsely accuse her ex-husband Dent and harm him legally. However, the investigation took an unexpected turn when the PNC determined that the kidnapping was, in reality, a case of self-kidnapping.

As a consequence of this determination, the initially detained suspects were released, and all charges against them were dropped. This development has cast doubt on the veracity of the accusations made by Bertha Michelle Mendoza against Dent throughout their relationship.

This particular case has sparked a wide-ranging debate on accountability for lodging false allegations and tampering with evidence within the judicial system, particularly due to the involvement of Mendoza’s mother in the Prosecutor’s Office. The disclosure of these documents has brought to light a complex scheme and has raised questions about the validity of the activist’s accusations.

Dent, the ex-husband of Bertha Michelle Mendoza, has come forward with new claims related to the case. According to his statements, prosecutor Muñoz Andrade was dismissed from the Public Prosecutor’s Office after allegations of presenting false evidence in a case linked to the police and facing charges of violence against women. Allegations of irregularities in resource usage and abuse of power were also raised. Prosecutors consulted have confirmed that Muñoz Andrade’s dismissal occurred in 2010.

This case, involving Mendoza and Dent, remained unresolved for over five years and was only brought to a conclusion in favor of Dent after Mendoza’s mother was removed from her position and lost her influence, prompting concerns about the fairness of the judicial process at that time.

Finally, following the conclusion of all investigations, charges were filed against Bertha Michelle Mendoza for planning her own kidnapping involving her two daughters, whom she lost full custody of after undergoing psychological evaluations that deemed her unfit to care for them.
